Food Products by Women of Self-Help Group in DK District to be Sold on E-Commerce Platforms

Food products manufactured by women self-help group (SHG) members in Dakshina Kannada district, will soon be available on e-commerce platforms. The food industry has helped rural women in Dakshina Kannada district to lead a better life in the past one decade. The Sanjeevini SHGs have been helping women in each family to become entrepreneurs through capacity building measures, and training in skill-based technology. Sanjeevini Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Mission (RLM) has implemented several schemes in this direction.

Zilla panchayat CEO Kumar said that a better market will be provided for the quality food products prepared by women from villages in the district. He added that the district has 67,419 women members working under 5,806 SHGs, in 223 gram panchayats.

The process of branding, packaging and providing online market space for the products manufactured by the SHG members through e-commerce platforms for their products have begun.
