Former Minister Pramod Madhwaraj blames Indian Navy for the seven fishermen tragedy

May 5: Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj while speaking to the mediapersons in Udupi on Saturday said that the circumstantial evidences proves that INS Kochi had collided with the boat Suvarna Thribhuja which led to the mishap. He said that the Indian Navy should accept a fact that it was their Naval Warship, INS Kochi, which was responsible for the tragedy.
He urged Indian Navy to pay Rs 25 lakh as compensation to each family, if their involvement in the accident was proved. Madhwaraj  stated that he would file a case in the Supreme Court seeking justice to the families of fishermen whose whereabouts were not known even after the discovery of wreckage of missing fishing boat Suvarna Thribhuja.
He accused the BJP for keeping the families of the fishermen in dark by building up stories in order to divert the attention of the people. He even stated that BJP did not reveal the fact that the fishing boat had met a tragic  end as elections were nearing as they feared that fishermen would rebel against the central government.
