Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations: DC Rajendra Issues Strict Guidelines

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner has directed the leaders of all Ganeshotsava Samithis of the district to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the state government as well as the high court with regard to the public celebrations of Ganesha Chaturthi this year.

The DC said Committees celebrating Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava should secure prior permission of police stations of the respective jurisdictions as well as local administrative  bodies. No one should put up any banner or flex board with writings that may disturb peace and tranquility.  All banners must have prior permission of the local administrative bodies and police departments. The Ganeshotsava Pandals must be strong enough to withstand rain and wind and that  precaution must be taken to avert any electricity related mishaps. CCTV installation is also mandatory and  volunteers have to be appointed by the committees themselves to  guard the pandals, he added. Permission should also be obtained for use of loudspeakers and loudspeakers will not be allowed after 10 pm as per court orders.  During processions all precautions must be taken to ensure no electricity wires or cables touch the tableaux, the DC said.
