Harekala Hajabba’s School is All Set to Kick Off Its First Batch of PU Classes From June 1

Harekala Hajabba, known for his humble origins as an orange seller and the prestigious Padma Shri Award recipient in 2020, established a school in his village, New Padpu in Harekala, approximately 35 km from Mangalore. He had persistently appealed to the government for the establishment of a PU college over the past several years. The Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat High School in Harekala, is all set to welcome its first batch of PU courses starting June 1.

The government had issued an order to elevate the government school established by Padma Shri awardee Harekala Hajabba into a PU College. Subsequently, the School Education and Literacy Department (PU Education) followed suit with an official directive for the school’s upgrade.

A senior lecturer has been appointed as the in-charge principal for the PU college. While the school currently possesses the temporary infrastructure required for the I PU batch, plans are underway to enhance infrastructure for the PU college in the future. Presently, the school boasts adequate classrooms and facilities to initiate PU classes.
