High-Resolution Camera With AI Tools Will Monitor Traffic Flow & Detect Violations in Mangalore Henceforth

The Mangalore Smart City Limited (MSCL) has introduced advanced technology to enhance traffic management and enforcement in the city.
MSCL has installed high-resolution cameras equipped with radar and artificial intelligence (AI) tools to monitor traffic flow and detect violations effectively.
These cutting-edge cameras are being installed at 15 strategic locations throughout Mangalore for comprehensive coverage of the city’s traffic network. The poles have already been installed at Ballalbagh, Besant Junction, and Kodialbail for installing cameras and radar. The project was implemented at a cost of Rs 14 crore in the first phase. Meanwhile, Rs 19 crore is being utilized in the second phase.
The cameras will record violations such as signal jumping, triple riding, not wearing helmets and seat belts, and the like, by clearly capturing the registration numbers of such vehicles. The radars will capture speed violations on the highway. After the cameras capture the image of traffic violators, challans will be issued, and notices will be served to the contact number of the violators by police.
Roads from Kottara Chowki to Kottara, Ladyhill, Narayana Guru Circle, Ballalbagh, PVS, Navabharath Circle, Hampankatta as well as the stretch from Bunts Hostel, Ambedkar Circle, Hampankatta, Clock Tower, AB Shetty Circle, Hamilton Circle, Pandeshwara, Mangaladevi, Mahakalipadpu, and Jeppinamogaru on NH-66 will be brought under one corridor to manage the traffic.  The MSCL, under the Integrated Command and Control Centre phase-1, has already provided smart poles at Kavoor, Padavinangady, PVS Circle, Narayana Guru Circle (Lady Hill), Lalbagh, Kadri Circuit House, Mallikatte, Agnes, Pumpwell, Padil, Hampankatta, Bunts Hostel, Mangaladevi, Rao & Rao, and Hamilton Circle.
