Illegal Street Vendors Encroach Footpaths In The City: Once Again MCC Launches Drive to Vacate Them

The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) launched a drive on Sunday evening to vacate illegal footpath vendors in the Kankanady area of the city. During the drive carried out from Kankanady to Koti Chennaya Circle, dozens of footpath stalls were vacated. The drive was carried out following complaints from citizens about footpaths being encroached by vendors at many places in the city, especially on the road near Valencia.

Similarly, footpaths on several roads in the city, including Hampankatta, State Bank and other areas, also have been encroached by footpath vendors.
Officials, who carried out the drive on Sunday, said they have been acting upon the directions of MCC commissioner Akshy Sridhar.

The MCC commissioner said during the drive they will continue to clear all illegal footpath vending in the city. Raids were conducted on several occasions earlier also. Based on complaints from citizens, the MCC officials conduct raids and vacate vendors who encroach footpaths in the city.
