Increasing Drug Consumption In Mangalore: DC Mullai Muhilan Plans These Measures

Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP stressed the need to identify consumers to end the district’s drug menace.
He said that steps must be taken to identify ganja and other drugs consumers and make sure they are addiction-free, he said. Awareness drives must be undertaken in schools and colleges of the district, through which students and parents must be made aware of the ill effects of drug consumption. Short videos and jingles must be released as part of the drives and social media platforms must be used, he said.

The message must reach the students through Yuva Parivarthaka of youth empowerment and sports department, and the department of public education, PUE and collegiate education department officers. Short videos should be created with the help of the health, education and mental health division, he added.

City police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar R Jain said a close watch must be maintained for the transportation of drugs through private courier and parcel services. New techniques need to be used to detect drug menace, one of the best ways is to use trained dogs from the squad, he said.
