Is this move by Congress a new way to woo voters?

April 11: As Loksabha polls are fast approaching, both Congress and BJP have intensified the campaign to seek favours of voters in many ways. BJP has been portraying saffron as its party colour and saffron turban is being used by the party for ‘Mai Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign. Surprisingly, even Congress leaders have started using saffron shawls these days.

The pictures of Congress leaders, including Mithun Rai wearing a saffron shawl, are being circulated on social media.

BJP has been quick to respond that Congress leaders are wearing the saffron shawls with an eye on the Hindu vote bank.
District In-charge Minister U T Khader begs to differ by declaring that the saffron colour is also part of the Indian flag. He said  saffron colour is not an indication of Hindu religion alone and green is not an indication of Islam alone. About the photograph of him wearing a saffron shawl, Khader said that he was presented a saffron shawl during a religious programme and he wore it to respect the feelings of the organisers of the particular programme and has nothing to do with elections.
