IT raid on a house at Carstreet: Rs 21 lakhs seized

May 19: Mangalore city police had seized Rs 1 crore cash without a valid documents from a person at car street. The accused was identified as Manjunath (51), a resident of Davangere. He was arrested while he was moving around suspiciously. However, he failed to furnish details on the whereabouts of the cash during interrogation and documents for possessing the huge amount of cash.
City Police Commissioner Sandip Patil had already informed income tax officials about the seizure. During preliminary investigations, it was observed by police that Manjunath had come to hand over money to a gold merchant, Raju Pawar. The IT officials reportedly had conducted a raid on the house and office of Raju Pawar on Friday night itself and had seized a few documents and Rs 24 lakh from him.
