KMC Hospital in Mangalore launched the Teddy Bear Clinic for children

August 1: KMC Hospital Mangalore launched a unique teddy bear clinic for school going children from Canara Primary School Mangalore. The main aim of this teddy bear clinic to educate and remove fear or other misconceptions on wards, hospitals and medical treatments.
This will also reduce fear from children’s mind regarding doctors, hospitals and also to enhance their knowledge on health.
At the teddy teddy bear clinic, the children were exposed to a simulated hospital and were asked to act like parents of teddy bear patients. This clinic has realistic setting with real equipments. The children were asked to touch and feel the materials.
A mock hospital atmosphere was created at the school where the children aged from 5 to 7 got their favourite teddies to the clinic. Doctors demonstrated the clinical examination and the use of medical equipments like stethoscope, tongue depressor etc. Along with this the use of hand rubs to disinfect hands was also demonstrated.
The children then acted like doctors and repeated the clinical examinations and used the medical equipments.
