KSRTC Discontinues Services From Mangalore City to Mangalore Airport: Click to Know Why
KSRTC, Mangalore division, which operates low-floor air-conditioned Volvo buses to Mangalore International Airport (MIA), has decided to discontinue services from Mangalore city to the airport and only operate two buses between Manipal and Mangalore international Airport.
After much demand, KSRTC had started Volvo buses to MIA last November. It had to be stopped from January 27, as MIA took up runway recarpet work and the airport was non-operational from morning to evening. The bus service, which was stopped due to recarpeting work, will resume by next Monday as the work has been completed.
One low-floor Volvo bus was operating between Hampankatta and MIA every day, with almost 12 trips (to and fro). However, the bus had no takers and used to run completely empty. It was a loss to the division as a majority of passengers flying in and out of MIA preferred taxis or their private vehicles to reach the airport rather than boarding a Volvo bus.
