KSRTC Stops Bus Service to Mangalore International Airport: Click to Know What Happened
The KSRTC bus service to Mangalore International Airport (MIA), which started last November, has been stopped, including service from Manipal. With this, the Mangalore International Airport has again lost public transport connectivity.
The Mangalore KSRTC division started to operate a total of three Volvo low-floor air-conditioned buses to Mangalore International Airport from Mangalore and Manipal, last November. The service from Mangalore stopped in mid-February, after 3.5 months of operations, and service to Manipal stopped in July.
Ever since the service started, the Mangalore-MIA bus has been running with less passengers. Though the division made attempts to popularise the service, it didn’t help. So the Mangaluru service stopped in February. The Manipal route had more passengers, but it did not generate expected revenue. Most of the passengers prefer hiring a taxi.
