Man attacked with swords at Malpe Harbour

June 8: A person was assaulted by a gang of miscreants wearing masks at Malpe fishing harbour on Friday morning. The victim has been identified as Riyaz (32), a resident of Farangipet in Mangalore. He is the member of Pudu gram panchayat and a fish merchant by profession.
As per the information given by an eyewitness, Riyaz was attacked with swords by a gang of miscreants who were wearing masks.
Police said that Police said Riyaz has sustained severe injuries on his hands and neck, is being treated at Kasturba Hospital in Manipal. His condition is said to be stable. Police suspected that the miscreants who assaulted him were from Mangalore as his vehicle was trailed by another vehicle from Mangalore. Circle Police Inspector of Udupi, Manjunath visited the spot. He suspected that rivalry in business  may be the reason behind the murder attempt. Police are now investigating his business connections. A case was registered under section 307 of IPC.
