Man Walks 350km From Bangalore With His Bull: Donates it to Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala

A man walked over 350 km, from Bangalore to Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara temple in Dakshina Kannada district, along with his bull Bhishma which he later donated (gau daana) to the temple recently. Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade also expressed his happiness for this gesture.

Shriyamsha K D, 32, an MBA graduate with a software company in Bangalore, decided to buy cows and look after them during the Covid-lockdown. He said “I live in a rented house in Bangalore and there was a vacant site right next to my house. I spoke to my owner and started looking after five cows once my company went into the work from home model in 2020. My dream is to own a farm with desi cows and I got Parvathi and her son Bhishma, a Gir breed from Gujarat. However, I started finding it difficult to manage the cows and my work; I sold all the cows, except for Parvathi and Bhishma,” he added.

Bhishma was about a week old when Shiryamsha bought him and he had decided to donate him to Dharmasthala Temple, before he turned three as he was the first calf to be owned by him. Determined to fulfil his wish of walking along with his 21-months-old bull, Shiryamsha started taking Bhishma on long walks. He travelled through Bannerghatta, Kanakapura Road, Bidadi, Dodda Alada Mara, Tippagondanahalli, Magadi Road, Huliyurdurga, Nagamangala, Kambadahalli, Shravanabelagola, Channarayapattana, Hassan, Belur, Mudigere, Kottigehara, Charmadi to reach Dharmasthala on November 6. He handed over Bhishma to the temple on November 7. They walked 10km every day. They would set out at 4am and stop by 8.30am as he had to log in to work by 9am.
