The Mangalore city police have urged the citizens to make use of the unified emergency response number 112, introduced under the ‘One Nation, One Emergency Number – 112’ initiative. This integrated system, implemented by the government of Karnataka, aims to provide a quick and coordinated response during emergencies.
Within the jurisdiction of the Mangalore city police commissionerate, citizens can dial 112 in situations such as accidents, murder, robbery, theft, burglary, riots, or any incidents involving women, children, senior citizens, or suspicious individuals or vehicles. The system prioritizes the call and dispatches the nearest police vehicle to the caller’s location to address the issue swiftly. Regardless of the caller’s location within the city, help will be dispatched promptly under the ERSS framework.
To ensure prompt emergency response across the city, 28 patrol vehicles have been deployed under this system. These include 21 Hoysala vehicles and 7 highway patrol vehicles, operating 24×7 to assist the public.
