Mangalore City Police Act Tough on City Buses: 123 Cases Booked For Footboard Travel

After the death of a 23-year-old private bus conductor who flung off the footboard of a city bus at Nanthoor Circle on August 22, Mangalore city Police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar Jain had warned city buses to prioritize safety of passengers. The commissioner had also instructed bus operators to fix doors for the buses in order to ensure safety of passengers as well as conductors and take steps to ensure that no one travels on footboard in old buses which do not have doors.

Mangalore police disclosed that 123 instances of footboard travel on buses were booked on Thursday, August 31, during a dedicated enforcement operation for footboard travelling.
