Mangalore City Police Implemented Tight Security Measures Ahead of Polling in The District

Mangalore city police have implemented extensive security measures ahead of polling in Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency.  The City police commissioner Anupam Agrawal said two companies of the CAPF and one company of the Karnataka State Reserve Police would be deployed for bandobast within the city police limits.

Additionally, 46 PSI sector mobile units, 14 PI supervision sector officers, and four ACP nodal officers have been deployed to monitor security.
Furthermore, 1,003 police personnel, 350 Home Guards, and 17 forest guards have been deployed. The 36 critical polling booths will be covered by CAPF personnel and 16 ASIs. To check any untoward incidents, three police inspectors, 21 PSIs, 13 ASIs, and 43 PCs will be deployed in sensitive areas, he said. Meanwhile, 1,157 persons with criminal activities have been booked under the security act. Security bonds have been imposed on 806 persons, and 75 persons have been excluded from the Mangalore Commissionerate limits. The High Court Advisory Committee has approved the Goonda Act against four rowdy sheeters, who have been imprisoned for a year. Action has been taken against those involved in election-related offences in the past.

The commissioner said route marches were held in 42 locations by police and Central Armed Police Forces personnel to instill confidence in the public. As many as 12 Static Surveillance Teams at four inter-district check posts have seized Rs 22.2 lakh in cash and drugs worth Rs 8.9 lakh. Three cases of violation of the model code of conduct have been booked within the commissionerate limits, he added.
