Mangalore District Jail to Set up a Drugs De-Addiction Center: Much Needed

To handle the drug addiction of jail inmates, authorities at Mangalore District Jail have decided to start a “Drugs De-Addiction Center” inside the prison.

The decision came after there was an increase of drug addicts among the under-trial prisoners, instances of smuggling ganja inside the prison premises have come to the fore. The number of drug addicts among the under-trial prisoners is increasing day by day. Many of those arrested under the NDPS Act are addicted to drugs when they come to jail and their behavior is outrageous. In general, checking the supply of drugs inside prisons has also become another big challenge. To tackle this soon a ‘Drugs De-Addiction Center’ will come up within the prison.

In this, there will be medical officers of the district hospital,  consultants, and experts from Roshini Nilaya. Officials said that they will constantly educate about the dangers of drugs and provide appropriate treatment if needed.
