Mangalore North Police Station at Bunder Renovated: Police Give a Facelift to The 132 Year Old Structure
Mangalore north police station which is 132 year old, located at Bunder has been renovated. The police pooled in money and received donations from philanthropists to give a new look to the Mangalore North Police Station, which was built in 1889. The police station is famous as Bunder Police Station and is the oldest police station in the city. Govindaraju B, who was Inspector of the police station in 2019, took up the initiative of giving a new look to the structure, which had leakages and other maintenance issues. The renovation work taken up at a cost of ₹8 lakh included work like repairing roof, floor, paint, electric work, parking shed and flag post. The structure received a new coat of paint to give it a look similar to Ravindra Kalabhavan, which is another heritage structure on the premises of University College. Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar appreciated the initiative of the police personnel from the North Police Station.
