Mangalore City Police Commissioner and Additional District Magistrate have issued an order enforcing temporary traffic diversions between Kankanady and Pumpwell with effect from October 13. As per the restrictions, vehicles from the city towards Pumpwell Circle would have to take the Kankanady Bypass Road while those from Pumpwell junction towards the city would have to take the Kankanady Old Road. Both the roads have been declared one-way temporarily
The Public Works Department (PWD) will concrete the existing 750 m four-lane Kankanady Bypass Road at an estimated cost of ₹4 crore. The road will be developed to the existing width.
The Mangalore City Police Commissioner has declared the Kankanady Bypass Road as one-way for vehicles from the city to Pumpwell Circle on temporary basis.
