Mangalore Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana Will Be Held At St Agnes College

January 28: Mangalore taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana to be organised at St Agnes College on January 29, Wednesday.
Eight achievers will be felicitated during the sammelan. Dakshina Kannada Jilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat secretary S Padmanabh Yekkaru said that the achievers to be felicitated are Jayanth H (education), Mamataz Begum (literature), Ravi Adiga Kadri (Vedic scholar), Sr Maria Jyothi (social service), Taranath Bolar (retired soldier), Mattaru Vittal Kini (literature), Pailwan Koggappa (rural sports) and Priyadarshini (sports).
Yekkaru said well-known researcher and writer Indira Heggade will preside over the Sammelana. Prior to the inauguration, an attractive procession is planned from the Library building at Mallikatte to St Agnes College. Abhay Kumar, chairman of Kannada SVP Studies Centre, Mangalore University, will inaugurate the Sammelana.
MLA D Vedavyas Kamath will inaugurate the book exhibition and former chairman of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Harikrishna Punaroor will release the books. A poets’ meet, exclusively for students, will be chaired by Yashaswini
Kadri, Sahitya Parishat President Vijaylakshmi B Shetty said. Padua College Principal Fr Alwyn Serrao will deliver the valedictory address, Parishat Treasurer Krishnamoorthy P said.
