Mangalore to get pedestrian friendly roads under Smart City Project

May 10: Dakshina Kannada district DC  Sasikanth Senthil S said that the roads coming up in the city under the Smart City Mission should be pedestrian-friendly and there should not be any scope for parking vehicles on footpaths.
He asked the officials to improve basic infrastructure in the city under seven different packages of the Smart City Project. He said that the smart roads should be built in such a way that they should not be scope for digging up again for laying cables, water supply pipelines or any other reason.
He asked the officials of BSNL and MESCOM to submit a list of works proposed on different roads in the city. DC asked the MCC officials to complete the pending works on Mangaladevi-Pandeshwar Road and Bhavanti Street-Car Street.  He even asked the officials of the municipal corporation to meet the regional transport officer to sort out the issue of buses being parked near Kankanady market.
