Mangalore traffic police personnel to get respiratory masks
May 18: Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil said that as the traffic police work amid dust and pollution, they will get respiratory masks. Therefore 1,500 respiratory masks will be distributed to the traffic personnel deployed across Mangalore city. Symbolically, he handed over the masks to some traffic police personnel during the phone-in programme at his office on Friday.
During the phone-in programme, he received a majority of traffic-related complaints. These issues included minor riding two-wheelers to non-functioning of street lights. The residents appealed to the police commissioner to install barriers and traffic cones in areas, such as Yeyyadi and Mannagudda. Absence of reflectors and cat-eye and unattended telephone cables lying on footpaths were highlighted.
