Mangalorean Student Anusha Reaches Hometown From Ukraine

Anusha Bhat, a student from Mangalore studying in Ukraine arrived at the Mangalore international airport on Thursday March 3.  she was welcomed by Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLA Vedavyas Kamath. Anusha hails from Bejai and was pursuing her third year MBBS. She was one among the 18 students stranded in Ukraine after Russia declared war on it. Anusha’s parents, Vidya and Harishchandra Bhat, thanked the deputy commissioner, MLA and MP for their constant help.

Anusha said, “We took a bus from Vinnytsia to Chernivtsi, a border town in Ukraine. From there we reached the Romanian border. We had to walk for about 2 km towards the border post and then cross it by road. There were no government officials at the spot. Only Ukrainian army officers were deployed. We went to the immigration authorities at the Romanian border. We were then shifted to a shelter in Romania for two days. The Indian government then facilitated a flight to Mumbai from Bucharest.”
