Mangalorean workers strandsed in Kuwait likely to get back their passports

June 3: 35 youths from Dakshina Kannada who have been trappedin Kuwait for the past six months due to alleged job fraud by a blacklisted recruitment agency. Their plight came to light after a video went viral on social in which the stranded youths were heard saying they went to Kuwait on employment visa through a placement agency in the city and realised that they were cheated.
The Company that has employed Mangaloreans in Kuwait has agreed to give back their passports along with cancelled resident visas on Monday. The passports will be handed over to the labour office in Kuwait by 3.30pm (Indian Standard Time).
However question is how the workers will return to India since the company has assured to pay only 44 Kuwaiti Dinar (KD) (nearly Rs 10,000), whereas the ticket fare from Kuwait to India hovering between KD 130 and KD 135, (Rs 28,000 to Rs 30,000).
