Mangalorean Youth Builts Drone For Pizza Delivery: Check This Out

Mangalore-based youth has built a drone for pizza delivery. About a month ago, 21 year old Sohan Rai from Bejai in Mangalore city built an autonomous drone for pizza delivery and conducted two test runs on the outskirts of the city with a delivery point located 1.5 km away from the take-off point. It took him two minutes to cover a distance of 1.5 km and deliver a pizza.

Sohan has been into robotics and technology for the past seven years and built this autonomous drone with a lot of difficulty, which can be improvised further with additional payload when it is commercial. The prototype can carry about 1kg payload.

During his college days, Rai and his team built a hybrid vertical take off and landing (VTOL) drone with a mission to deliver medicines. The team emerged as winners of the Smart India hackathon, a national-level competition in 2020, and they wrote two research papers.
