Mangaloreans Will Not Face Water Scarcity This Summer: Mayor Diwakar Reassures

March 11: Mayor Diwakar Pandeshwar said that Mangalore will not face water scarcity this summer. He was speaking after offering Bagina as a part of Ganga pooje to river Nethravathi in Thumbe vented dam on Monday, March 9.
The Mayor mentioned that the water impounded in the Thumbe vented dam is sufficient to meet the water needs of the residents of Mangalore and there will be no water scarcity this summer.
The inflow of water into Thumbe vented dam is still there. Providing drinking water is the responsibility of the Manglore City Corporation and full cooperation is expected from the opposition party to fulfill the basic needs of the people, including water facility, he added.
MCC joint commissioner Dr Santhosh Kumar, Chief Whip of MCC Premananda Shetty, Superintendent Engineer Ganeshan, Executive Engineer G K Muralahalli, Assitant executive engineer Naresh Shenoy, corporators Shashidhar Hegde, Lancelot Pinto, Naveen D’Souza, Poornima, Sumithra Kariya and others were present.
