Manikya Associates recruites without valid licence: FIR registered

May 30: An FIR has been registered against the city-based Manikya Associates Manpower Consultancy for job recruitment without valid licence at the Mangalore North police station under Section 27 of the Immigration Act.  35 people from Mangaloe were recruited by the agency on behalf of Aspect Petroleum Services are stranded in Kuwait who have not been paid salary for many months. Their passports are also confiscated by the company.
Mangalore City Commissioner Sandeep Patil had directed sub inspectors of various police stations to conduct inspection on such firms which have been recruiting youth for overseas companies without a valid licence.
During a press release, Manikya Associates declared that it had acted as a bridge between the candidates and Mumbai-based Hawk Consultancy Private Limited that had conducted the interview.
The officials at the Indian Embassy in Kuwait had decided to intervene in the matter and facilitate the release of the 35 people. A discussion was also conducted between representatives from the Kuwait chapter of Institution of Engineers and Indian Embassy Deputy Secretary Shibi U S in Kuwait.
