MCC Reverses Decision on Mandatory Pet Dog Licenses Due to Public Objections

Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has reversed its earlier decision, which mandated licenses for pet dogs within the city due to objections from pet owners.

The MCC had initially enforced the licensing requirement as a measure to address the issue of stray dogs. Pet owners were required to submit a copy of their Aadhaar card, two photos of their pet, and a no-objection certificate from neighbors or the apartment association to obtain the license.

MCC Commissioner Anand CL mentioned that the city corporation is currently in the process of formulating rules for obtaining registration certificates for dogs. A final decision will precede the issuance of a public notice.
