MCC Takes up Initiative to Draw Stop Lines & Zebra Crossings at 48 Locations in Mangalore
The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has taken up initiatives to implement the suggestions made by the Mangalore city police to draw stop lines and zebra crossings at 48 major locations in the city. The city corporation will also develop scientific humps at places identified by the city police. Mangalore city police have been receiving complaints from public during the phone-in programmes about the lack of zebra crossings to cross the busy roads at many places in the city.
The city police identified 48 locations, where zebra crossings with stop lines need to be drawn, and a list of places was sent to the city corporation.
DCP (crime and traffic) BP Dinesh Kumar has informed the MCC that people have complained about the necessity of zebra crossings at busy locations in the city. People have also brought to the notice of the police about zebra crossing lines not visible at many places. This may lead to accidents on the roads as people try to cross the roads everywhere, the DCP said, requesting the MCC to take necessary initiatives and suggested the MCC to repair the existing humps at many places. MCC commissioner Anand C L said that he has already assigned engineers to take up the work, which will be completed soon.
