The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) will soon introduce a separate trade license policy for the sale of tobacco products in the city limits. Mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur said that the MCC will have a separate trade license policy for the sale of tobacco products in the city as it is necessary to take action against the illegal sale of tobacco products.
The young generation is attracted more towards the use of tobacco products and drugs, recently. Hence, there is a need for the implementation of a trade license policy for the sale of tobacco products in the MCC limits. This will enable the authorities to act against the illegal sale of tobacco products, and thereby build a healthy society. MCC in association with the Dakshina Kannada Tobacco Control Cell, ZP and the department of health and family welfare has already held a discussion regarding the implementation of a trade license policy. MCC commissioner Anand CL said that a separate policy for the sale of tobacco products will be framed soon, based on the directions of the government.
