Moulvi at Madrasa held for sexual assault on minor

May 19: A madrasa teacher was arrested on the charge of sexually assaulting a minor boy at women’s police station in Puttur recently. The arrested has been identified as Ustad Anwar Moulvi. He was accused of performing unnatural sex and threatening a 12-year old boy. According to the police, on March 21, a local resident sent tea and snacks through a 12-year-old boy to the madrasa teacher. When the boy reached the madrassa at around 5 pm, the Moulvi allegedly closed the door and performed unnatural sex with the boy.
On April 7, he once again sexually abused the boy. The boy then stopped going to the madrasa and mosque to offer namaz. On noticing his behaviour, his mother asked him the reason and the boy revealed the shocking details. The boy’s mother then approached the police and filed a case at Puttur Women’s Police Station. A case was booked under section 5 (F) and 6 of Pocso Act, IPC section 377 ( unnatural offences), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
