Never Like Before Karavali Utsav Will Begin in Mangalore From December 21: Carnival-Type Procession to be Held

The Dakshina Kannada district administration will hold the Karavali Utsav between December 21 and January 19, at the Karavali Utsav Maidan, Kadri Park, and Tannirbhavi beach after three long years.

Deputy Commissioner M.P. Mullai Muhilan said the event will have a grand beginning on December 21 with a carnival-type procession from Canara College in Kodialbail to Karavali Utsav Maidan. The procession will showcase the diverse culture of the region and it will be flagged off at 5.30 p.m. Various cultural programmes will be held on an illuminated stage set at the Karavali ground on December 21 and 22.

A global village will be set up at the maidan where there will be stalls showcasing the diverse literature, food, costumes, and culture of the coastal region. There will be stalls displaying products of self-help groups, handloom products, handicrafts and pottery items. There will also be stalls providing delicacies prepared by native tribes. There will also be 60 commercial stalls and amusement facilities. From December 22, there will be ‘robotic butterfly’ display at the Kadri Park between 4 a.m. and 9 p.m. every day during the period. The event will be presented by Bengaluru’s Karnataka Sambrama team. The beach utsav will be held on December 28 and 29 at Tannirbhavi beach. It will be inaugurated at 6 p.m. on December 28, which will be followed by musical programme of Raghu Dixit and team. There will be yoga and zumba sesisons on December 29 morning. Then different sports events will be held at the beach. In the evening, there will be shows by music groups, which are selected on the basis of popularity on the social media of the reels of their presentation.

There will be a dog show and a vintage car rally on January 4 at Kadri Park. A host of activities will be held at Kadri Park for the Yuva Utsav on January 11 and 12. Several national and international teams will take part in the international kite event at Tannirbhavi beach on January 18 and January 19.
