New Mayor & Deputy Mayor Elected For Mangalore City: Click to Know More

The 23rd mayor and deputy mayor of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) have been elected on Friday September 9. Jayananda Anchan is elected as the mayor while Poornima, the deputy mayor.

Jayananda Anchan represents the Kadri Padavu (Ward No. 22), whereas Poornima is a corporator from the Central Market (Ward No 41) of the MCC.
Jayananda got 46 votes in favor including those of the 2 MLAs. Whereas, his rival, senior corporator from Congress party Shasidhara Hegde secured 14 votes. In the race for Deputy Mayor, BJP’s Poornima secured 46 votes as against 14 votes received by her rival Zeenat Shamsuddin of Congress.
