NITK Suratkal is the Vote Counting Center for Dakshina Kannada

NITK Suratkal is the Vote Counting Center for Dakshina Kannada

It is gathered that National Institute of Technology (Karnataka) (NITK) which is located at Surathkal, has been chosen as the vote counting centre for Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency.
The decision has been taken by the Authorities as that there is a gap of over a month between the date of voting and counting, and even because NITK has enough space needed to preserve VVPAT machines.
During the last Lok Saba election in 2014, counting of votes was done at Mahatma Gandhi Composite PU College at Bondel.
The security concerns have increased as voting will be held on April 18 and the counting of votes will be held on May 23. The district administration therefore has chosen NITK Suratkal as the counting centre  as there is an added responsibility to ensure safe and secure place for keeping electronic voting machines and VVPAT units.
