Part of famous Gadayikallu Fort in Belthangady damaged: Know what happened

June 25: Gadayikallu, the hilltop fort in Belthangady taluk is known to all. A nearby residentsaid that on Sunday morning, June 23, they all heard a loud sound, when checked they found pieces and small slabs of stone falling from Gadayikallu.
News that Gadayikallu had developed cracks had spread on social media on Monday. On receiving this information Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja visited the spot. Even though there were nocracks developed, he found small slabs of stone on the ground. One portion of Gadayikallu is suspected to have been hit by lightning.
MLA has mentioned that he has directed officials from Mines and Geology Department as well as from Forest Department to inspect the fort
