Phone-in Programme by Police Commissioner: These Issues Were Raised by The Public
As many as 31 callers reached out to city police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar R Jain at the phone-in programme. The majority of the callers discussed traffic issues with the commissioner.
Callers raised various other issues such as minors driving vehicles on roads, rash driving, unsafe transportation of construction materials, and sought additional traffic police at certain locations. The public also raised issues such as footpath encroachment, footpath being used for parking by a new restaurant, rash driving, shrill horns, fancy number plates, fancy lights, private vehicles top using beacon lights, modified silencers, seized vehicles being parked outside police stations, including Barke police station, parking issues near Mangaladevi Road and seats reserved for senior citizens being occupied by other passengers before the commissioner. Concerns were raisd on bars and wine shops working late hours to which the commissioner said that CCTVs are being checked and fines are being imposed in coordination with the Excise Department. When told about a petting shop selling tobacco items and students found smoking near a hostel, the commissioner told officers concerned to look into the issue.
