June 22: Mangalore city Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil mentioned about the issued and complaints received during weekly phone-in-programme organised at police commissioner’s chambers on Friday June 21.
Goods vehicles carrying passengers and overloading of school vehicles was one of the complaints received to which, Commissioner Patil said that  Traffic police are taking action against transporting of passengers in goods vehicles and overloading of school vehicles and nearly 280 cases have been registered against goods vehicles and 60 cases against school vehicles carrying too many students.
A resident of Kulai complained that bus shelters at NITK, Honnakatte Junction, Raghavendraswamy Mutt on NH-66 have been removed by the authorities due to which people were exposed to sun and rain and forced to face many inconveniences.
Another resident from Surathkal complained on indisciplined parking of vehicles in front of Kudva Gradeur complex near Suratkal, Essel mall, Baikampady industrial area and on the service road.
A person suggested to allow two-way traffic on the service roads of Thokkottu Flyover, which would help people going towards Ullal from Konaje and the city. Responding to a suggestion, Commissioner Patil said that light motor vehicles can be allowed to move through the flyover underpass and then take a left turn towards Ullal Junction without disturbing traffic on the national highway. A decision would be taken after a proper study.
