Police act on a secret information received from public: Four arrested

April 3: The Udupi police after receiving information from the public about the five men who were conversing in Tamil and Hindi about string of robberies in the district. Police arrested 4  based on their suspicious movements near Kinnimulki. The arrested have been identified as Shyam, Venkatesh, Rakesh and Gopi.
A team was formed by Circle Inspector Manjunath which succeeded in arresting four out of the five suspected thieves.  One among them succeeded in escaping from the spot. He has been identified as Paramashiva alias Ramesh.
The four accused admitted that they had planned the robbery of people walking in the area by throwing chilly powder on their face. They possessed face masks, fake documents of bikes and also had fake Aadhaar cards.The police registered cases under IPC sections 399, 402 and 420 and seized all the materials.
All the arrested were members of a gang from Chittoor in Andra Pradesh and further investigation is on.  The court remanded them in police custody for four days.
