Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar Issues Strict Guidelines for PGs, Hostels & Homestays in Mangalore

Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar took out an order making strict rules for paying guest (PG) accommodation, hostels and homestays under the limits of police commissionerate of Mangalore.

Below are the rules which all owners of such accommodations should follow:

Owner of hostels, homestays, paying guest service apartments, commercial purpose guest house, lodges and boarding run by educational institutions should mandatorily take permission from concerned departments.
The name, address, telephone number, identification card and register book of the organization should be mandatorily produced every year to the office of police commissioner and local police station.
If overseas students are residing, their details need to be given within 24 hours with passport and visa details. Even when they vacate the place, the matter needs to be brought to the notice of the police.
CCTV of high quality need to be installed in the accommodation. One of the cameras must face main door and main road. Footage of CCTV camera should be kept for minimum of 30 days. Whenever the station officers ask for, the same needs to be produced.
Action should be taken to prevent any crime, narcotic drug usage, illicit activity or any activity against the law.
Concerned people should take responsibility of security and safety of students. An undertaking to this respect should be given to local police station.
