Pre-Monsoon Showers Likely in May in Case of Cyclones Formed in Bay of Bengal

Scientists at the IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) have predicted that if a cyclone forms after the summer rains, pre-monsoon showers will arrive in May itself. Following the cessation of these rains, pre-monsoon showers are anticipated towards the end of April or the first week of May.

Senior scientist Prasad of the IMD stated, “Cyclones play a significant role in pre-monsoon rains. This year, there are no indications of any cyclones forming in the month of April in the Bay of Bengal or the Arabian Sea. However, predicting the weather towards the end of April or May is challenging. If a cyclone hits at the beginning of the monsoon season, it may delay the onset of monsoon rains.”
