Priest assaulted at Kukke Subrahmanya Temple office: Math employees angered

June 4: A priest of Samputa Narasimhaswamy Mutt in Subrahmanya was allegedly assaulted at Kukke Subrahmanya Temple by Maheshkumar Karikkala, Guruprasad Panja and Prashanh Bhat Manila. The priest was identified as B A Kumar, 61, a resident of Belthangady.
As per the complaint given by the Priest, when he had reached near the Kukke Subrahmanya Temple, Guru Prasad Panja and Prashanth Bhat Manipal asked him to accompany them to the temple office. When he entered the temple office, Mahesh Karikkala abused him for conducting ‘Sarpa Samskara’ on the Mutt premises. They later assaulted and threatened Kumar of having to face dire consequences. Kumar got admitted into a hospital in Puttur.
Priests and employees of Samputa Narasimhaswamy Math at Kukke have expressed their anger on the attack on priest Kumar which happene at Subramanya temple office. The priests and employees of Samputa Narasimhaswamy Math met temple executive officer, Raveendra M H on this matter. The executive officer said that he would discuss this matter with the managing committee and take necessary action.
