Private Buses in Mangalore Must Install Doors Within a Month: DC Mullai Muhilan

Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner (DC) issued a directive specifying that all private city buses registered since 2017 must install doors within the next month and submit an affidavit regarding the same.

The directive came during Road safety meeting held on February 28. The DC said that all buses registered since 2017 must have doors installed within the next month, this should be strictly implemented, and bus owners must submit affidavits as directed by the RTA.

“No compromise can be made on public safety. There is no question of tolerating negligence. There is intense pressure from the public to install doors on buses. Concerns have been expressed at public meetings as well. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and other states have also made it mandatory to install doors on buses for travel. The presence of doors in city buses in Bengaluru ensures uninterrupted public transportation. This also facilitates smooth traffic management. Hence, it will be implemented in our district as well,” he said.
