Quality Check of Water Supplied Through Water Tankers Made Mandatory: This is The Reason
In the wake of cholera cases in Bengaluru and the state being hit by drought, the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has initiated preventive measures, and is urging residents to exercise caution regarding water sourced through tankers. With the water in the Thumbe dam depleting, hotels, restaurants, paying guest accommodations and apartments are sourcing water through tankers.
Anand CL, commissioner, Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), said that in an attempt to prevent the outbreak of a waterborne disease in the city, the MCC has mandated agencies responsible for tanker water supply to conduct water quality tests at NABL-recognised labs, and submit a report on the same to the executive engineer, water supply division of the MCC, by Saturday. Failure to comply will result in appropriate legal action against the agency. The commissioner has advised the public to verify water quality reports before use, as tankers may draw water from open wells or borewells, he said.
