Red Alert Extended in Twin Districts as Heavy Rainfall Continues

Heavy rainfall has been lashing the twin districts, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi for the past two days is continuing on Wednesday with extremely heavy rainfall in some isolated places and moderate to heavy rain in other parts of the districts. The IMD continued with its red alert on Wednesday for the three coastal districts.

DK received an average rainfall of 111mm, with Sullia taluk receiving the highest at 146mm, followed by Kadaba, Moodbidri and Bantwal taluks receiving more than 100mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours till Tuesday 8.30am. Udupi district received an average of 102mm of rainfall. Byndoor taluk received the highest rainfall at 139mm, followed by Hebri at 118mm.

India Meteorological Department has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea till July 29. IMD predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall, with more than 114mm to 204 mm is likely to occur at isolated places in coastal districts.
