Sanitation workers at Mangalore Central & Junction Railway Stations staged protest: Click to know why?

July 12: Outsourced sanitation workers at Mangalore Central and Junction Railway Stations staged a black badge protest on Monday. These workers are employed by Durga Facility Management Services Private Limited. The company spends an average of Rs 16 lakh a month on employee wages and other statutory payments.
As per the letter written by Durga Facility Management Services Private Limited to the chief medical superintendent, the Palakkad Division of the Railway authorities owes them Rs 51.75 lakh. In the letter, the contract company had expressed its inability to pay wages to their workers without receiving full payment from railway authorities of Palakkad division.  Sources in the Palakkad Division said that efforts are being made to settle the issue at the earliest.
