‘Savayava Santhe’ at Mannnagudda makes these moves to create voter awareness

March 31: An awareness drive on ethical voting was organised by ECO-Friends Group  during the Savayava Santhe, at Mannagudde on Sunday. Handbills and stickers were given to the customers on the occasion. A handbag bearing the date of the election in Dakshina Kannada with the message “My vote is my right”; was distributed on the occasion. Banners which demonstrated how to use the electronic voting machine (EVM) was also displayed. Awareness stickers were struck on the customers’ bikes and cars.

Namma Bhoomi, Gram Panchayat Hakkothaya Andolana and Udupi district SVEEP too carried out an ethical voting drive at Kundapura during the weekly shandy, on Saturday. The volunteers of Namma Bhoomi held a poster which read “Our vote is not for sale,” “My vote is my pride.” Stickers and badges which gave importance of exercising franchise was handed over to merchants, customers, auto drivers, two-wheeler riders, goods vehicle owners and labourers on the occasion. The placards were held at the market read: “We sell vegetables and not our votes,” “We sell sugarcane juice and not our votes.”
