Sociology will now be a part of Commerce stream and Arts Stream

June 28: As per the demand from students, parents, lecturers and political representatives selected PU colleges in Karnataka will introduce sociology as a new subject in the commerce stream.
The department of pre-university education (DPUE) said that the combination was approved by former director of the department C Shikha, after an appeal from sociology lecturers to introduce sociology in commerce stream. The combination is approved for five government colleges in the state and two in Dakshina Kannada district.
Since the approval from the government came late, colleges in Dakshina Kannada have finished their admission process and admitted students. The colleges would introduce sociology in commerce from next academic year.
