Some Good News: 24 Gram Panchayats in Udupi District Turn Covid Free

Twenty four gram panchayats in Udupi district have become Covid-free after taking several preventive measures. The district administration decided to take strict measures after the number of infected persons in rural areas went on increasing. From May 21 onwards, houses in villages where new infections were confirmed, were sealed down. The decision for total lockdown of gram panchayats also led to decrease in positive cases. Task forces were formed at the gram panchayat level which functioned effectively and as a result many panchayats freed themselves from the clutch of coronavirus infections.
