Special drive by Udupi district police: 27 persons arrested

March 29: In the wake of forthcoming Loksabha polls, Udupi district police launched a special drive to arrest the criminals.  27 persons have been arrested against whom warrants had been issued by the court.
The warrants which were pending since many years were shortlisted and special teams were formed to visit other districts and states. Out of the 27 persons arrested, two are from Indore in Madhya Pradesh, one from Sangli in Maharashtra and three from Kerala. They were nabbed by the teams led by PSIs.
The arrested persons have been produced before the Court. One of the accused is Amir Ali from Kerala, who had evaded arrest for 26 years andwas wanted in many important cases registered in Byndoor police station. The other accused in the case K P Yusuf is dead and the team which had been to Kerala in search of him successfully secured his death certificate.
